You may be wondering who Richard Grove is and why he's known as the "Georgia Kayaker"? Let's give you some details so that you can get to know Richard a little better...

Richard lives in the Atlanta, Georgia area. He discovered kayaking on July 9, 2004 when he stepped into a kayak for the first time to paddle alone for 486 miles in 26 days for his trip from Lake Lanier's Buford Dam to the Gulf of Mexico. This trip introduced Richard to kayaking and the love of rivers. Since this first trip, he has kayaked over 5,000 miles.

In 2005, he completed a 30 day, 512 mile trip down the Yellow, Ocmulgee and Altamaha rivers to the Atlantic Ocean.

Richard completed his longest trip yet in November 2006 when he kayaked the Etowah, Coosa, Alabama and Mobile Rivers from North Georgia to Mobile Bay. He completed this 851 mile journey to the Gulf of Mexico in 48 days. A detailed blog was kept of his journey. Go to the blog page to read all about it!
